What does it mean to be resilient, not just in response to life’s major curveballs, but in the quieter, everyday moments that slowly chip away at our energy and focus? In our latest webinar, Felicia guided us through the concept of micro-resilience, a framework built on small, intentional practices that help us reset, recharge, and re-engage throughout the day. The session was rich with practical strategies, gentle mindset shifts, and powerful reminders that resilience doesn’t have to be big or dramatic. It can live in the little things we do, moment by moment.

Felicia opened the conversation by naming the difference between macro-resilience and micro-resilience. While macro-resilience is about bouncing back from major life disruptions, micro-resilience is about the daily micro-adjustments that keep us going. It’s the breath between meetings, the stretch after a long work block, the scent that brings us back into our bodies. These small acts of recovery, repeated consistently, help prevent burnout and improve performance over time. Felicia even shared research on tennis players who use mini-resets between points to stay focused and energized, which is proof that high performance and small pauses go hand in hand!

Throughout the webinar, Felicia offered a range of simple yet effective strategies to support energy and focus. She encouraged attendees to build consistent bedtime routines, take intentional breaks (especially for remote workers), and adopt the “5-minute rule” as an antidote to procrastination. She also emphasized the importance of mindful transitions between tasks to reduce mental fatigue and reminded us to celebrate the small wins. It was a lovely reminder that resilience is as much about noticing what’s going well as it is about pushing through what’s hard.

One standout moment was Felicia’s introduction of the delegation matrix, a tool for prioritizing tasks by asking, “What can only I do?” She explained the four quadrants and emphasized the freedom that comes from letting go of tasks that others can take on.

Delegation Matrix, also sometimes referred to as the Eisenhower Matrix

The webinar also offered a chance to explore hands-on micro-resilience techniques that can be used immediately. These tools are accessible, adaptable, and grounded in the reality of busy workdays—perfect for anyone looking to feel a little more centered without needing to overhaul their schedule.

Beyond individual practices, Felicia spoke about the importance of organizational resilience. She shared how leaders and teams can support one another by modeling healthy behaviors, practicing self-awareness, and creating space for recovery. It was a helpful reminder that resilience isn’t just personal, it’s cultural. And when teams commit to it together, it becomes much more sustainable.

As we closed the session, we invited participants to commit to one micro-resilience practice this week. Whether it’s deep breathing before your next meeting, setting alarms to stretch, or simply pausing to acknowledge your progress, small steps make a big difference.

Actions You Can Take This Week

  • Share a micro-resilience strategy with a teammate. Build collective care into your workplace culture.
  • Try one micro-resilience technique during your day. Try box breathing, body tapping, mindful transitions, scent anchoring, or anything else that helps you reset.
  • Use the delegation or Eisenhower matrix to reassess your task list. What can only you do, and what can be let go?
  • Block out buffer time before and after key meetings to reduce stress and prevent burnout.
  • Set a break reminder. Use a phone alarm or calendar nudge to step away, stretch, breathe, or reflect.
  • Practice a mindful transition between tasks. Even 30 seconds of stillness can help you shift gears with more clarity.
  • Label one task or project in your system using a prioritization tool and revisit it at the end of the week.
