In our latest Inclusion Geeks webinar, AI at Work: Building Inclusion with Intention, we dug into one of the biggest workplace game-changers of our time: artificial intelligence. Facilitated by our very own Felicia Jadczak, she offered a mix of insights, cautionary tales, and practical tools for using AI to support inclusion. With curiosity, transparency, and a healthy dose of skepticism, we explored how artificial intelligence is already shaping our workplaces and how we can shape it back with intention.
Here’s what we covered:
The current AI landscape
We kicked off with an overview of AI’s explosive growth. From ChatGPT to therapy bots to self-driving cars, AI is evolving quickly—and making its way into every corner of our lives, whether we like it or not.
Opportunities vs. risks
We talked about how AI can help with inclusive practices, like removing bias in writing, improving accessibility, and organizing information. But we also explored the other side: job displacement, hidden bias in training data, and privacy concerns.
Ethics, environment, and memory
Felicia broke down some of the lesser-known implications of AI, including water usage in AI server farms, plagiarism and IP issues, and even studies suggesting that relying too much on AI could hinder memory and engagement.
The human side of AI
We shared tools we love (ChatGPT, Claude, Grammarly, Perplexity), but emphasized that how we use them matters. AI should be an assistant, not a decision-maker. It’s our job to ask the hard questions: Who built it? What assumptions is it trained on? Who’s being left out?
Practical strategies
From writing more inclusive job descriptions to making content more accessible, we explored ways AI can enhance—not replace—human-centered leadership. The takeaway? AI is a tool. But inclusion is a practice.
AI isn’t going anywhere, and neither is our responsibility to use it thoughtfully. As Felicia reminded us, it’s not about being experts; it’s about being intentional. Whether you’re just dipping a toe into AI or already using it daily, now’s the time to ask: How can these tools reflect our values?
